Musician Godfrey Johnson will spend his 67 minutes on Mandela Day performing highlights from Pianomania at the Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG) shelter in Hout Bay on Saturday July 13.
“There is nothing more important that treating animals with love and kindness they deserve. They enrich our lives and love us unconditionally. It is a great honour and privilege to be doing an event for Darg. I am excited to bring highlights of Pianomania, which feature Nicholas McDiarmid, to the event,” he said.
The show includes the work of Bach, Mozart, Sondheim, Bowie, Madonna as well as hilarious original songs by Johnson and McDiarmid.
“We are delighted that the incredibly talented Godfrey Johnson has chosen to spend his 67 minutes with us. This is a fantastic opportunity for people to volunteer or even to just come to enjoy the show which is sure to be brilliant in the true Godfrey-style,” said Darg fundraiser Debra Buys.
Darg will be hosting a fun family day on Saturday July 13 for those who can’t join on Mandela Day, Thursday July 18.
The volunteer activities will run from 10am to noon and the show will start at 1pm.
Volunteer activities for both events range from cleaning dog runs, cat rooms and store rooms to laundry, washing dishes, puppy playtime, general maintenance, painting kennels and dishing up food for the animals.  Â
