Harbour Road in Hout Bay is closed due to protest action.
The protest, which is believed to be over housing, started last night. The City of Cape Town said an electrical facility is to be built at the location where the demonstration broke out.
The protesters allegedly burnt a truck. The contractor’s equipment was also vandalised.
Law enforcement spokesperson, Wayne Dyason, said: “Currently, the protesters have returned to the scene in Harbour Road. Harbour Road has been closed. The scene is very tense. There is no violence at the moment.”
Law enforcement officers are at the scene – keeping an eye on the protesters. Â
Meanwhile, ward councillor Rob Quintas is expected to address the protesters.Â
