The Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG) has been running a unique fund-raising event for the past month, in which the public pays R10 to write a message of inspiration on a Christmas bauble. The “Trees of Inspiration” campaign then sees the baubles being used to decorate Christmas trees, which are distributed to various children’s homes around Cape Town. “With the R10, we get to help look after abused and neglected animals, while the baubles with messages will hopefully give some Christmas spirit to those who need it most, and even possible inspire a young individual,” said DARG managing director Faustina Gardner. “We have set up a station outside Checkers at Meadowridge, where we are allowed to appeal to the public to support this wonderful concept. Hundreds and hundreds of baubles have had the most beautiful, inspiring and kind words written on them.”Â
