A year before she released As Long As I Live, she was suffering from depression and wanted to retire from the music industry.
This is what Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum-selling singer Toni Braxton told her fans who filled the GrandWest Arena on Tuesday evening for her As Long As I Live Tour to South Africa. The tour kicked off in Johannesburg on Saturday last week, before she touched down in Cape Town this past Tuesday.
The international singer gave the Capetonians fans her all, so much so that a man saw it fit to pop the big question to his lady right there and then.
A fan, Ayanda Dubazane, said she was expecting nothing short of amazing and the whole room would be electric and energetic because she has that much influence on her fans.
“I expected her to be very sexy on stage, which she always is and that the crowd be welcoming and make her feel at home and my expectations were exceeded,” said another fan, Craig Morris.
Local artist, Shekhinah, entertained the crowd before Toni showed up. Although the superstar performed a tad bit later than expected, the response from the crowd, when they finally saw her, showed that she was worth the wait.
Fans sang their hearts out when she performed classics such as He Wasn’t Man Enough, Breath Again and Unbreak My Heart. The veteran singer changed her outfits three times before closing the show with As Long As I Live which brought the “lit” arena down forgetting that it was a Tuesday evening and
most people have work the next day.
Toni promised her fans that she’d be back.
