Pupils of the past and present came together to celebrate Llandudno Primary School’s 70th birthday last Wednesday March 20.
Parents, staff members and up to 213 pupils and 20 past pupils, were present at the school to mark the special occasion, according to principal, Alex Molteno.
The school was founded in 1954 by local parents who felt the need for their own school.
“The morning’s festivities began with the Grade 6 Marimba Band’s energetic rendition of “Old Town Road,” which had the audience delighted by their skilful performance that bridged the gap between the contemporary and the classic.
The event was enriched by inspiring speeches from past pupil, Jazz Mallam and her mom, Natasya, who was an active parent that supported the school through her fund-raising efforts as part of ‘Friends of Llandudno’,“ Mr Molteno said.
On the day, the guests were entertained by the Junior Choir performance of “My Favourite Things” and the “The Sound of Music”, while the Senior Choir’s interpretation of “Wings” by Little Mix was an empowering anthem for the school’s pupils to aim high and dream big, he added.
“The symbolic cutting of the birthday cake by Parry Price, one of the school’s first learners 70 years earlier, was a powerful link between generations, sealing the morning’s celebrations,” Mr Molteno said.
