There was great excitement this week as Oranjekloof Moravian Primary School held its annual prize-giving ceremonies.
While the higher grades enjoyed their chance to shine later in the week, it was the foundation phase classes that kicked off proceedings on Tuesday November 14.
The little ones’ parents were greeted by a festive atmosphere at the school, where a marquee had been pitched for the ceremony.
Rousing song and dance by the school choir entertained guests and staff as they took their seats to watch their children receive certificates several categories.
“We are here today to celebrate our children,” Orangekloof principal ,Mkhululi Qaba, told the audience. “Our children have to understand that the future belongs to them. We want to send a message that we are a school on the move. We are working with our kids because we know they have what it takes to stand on their own two feet.”
He thanked the parents for coming out in large numbers to support the ceremony, and paid tribute to his staff for the hard work they put in.
“Our children are seeing what can be done when we hold hands and work together.”
There were tremendous cheers from parents as each of their children went up to the stage to receive their certificates.
Programme master Siyanda Mrobo also proved a huge hit with guests, telling jokes and dancing along with the choir, led by teacher Phumla
Kwazi.
