Children being housed at the Hout Bay Sports Fields in the wake of last month’s Imizamo Yethu fire were given a special treat on Easter Sunday as members of Shaygam’s Shelter distributed 1500 Easter eggs.
Karen Oosterbaan, together with Liz Bester, organised the event. “It occurred to me that these kids don’t have very much,” Ms Oosterbaan said.
“So I started collecting eggs in my local area, and soon other people got on board. Went down to the field on Sunday to distribute the eggs to the children, who were very surprised. We wish to thank the Hout Bay community for their generosity.”
