Fish Hoek police have arrested a Zimbabwean man in Hout Bay in connection with a body found in a shallow grave in a Noordhoek garden.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Peter Middleton said the body was found in the garden of a Gertie Way home on Friday September 30.
He said Fish Hoek police went to the property after the owner, Pierre Bretonnes, a French National, was reported missing by one of his staff members.
Mr Bretonnes had been missing since Thursday September 8 but was only reported missing earlier this week.
However, he said, the body is yet to be identified and the search for Mr Bretonnes continues.
Warrant Officer Middelton said detectives and crime scene experts combed the property and there had been an indication of a struggle in the house and an attempt to cover up the crime scene.
The suspect, he said, is believed to have been an employee of Mr Bretonnes and at the time of his arrest was found to be in possession of some of his property.
The suspect will appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday October 3.
