Young Hout Bay breakdancers were among a number of dancers from across the city who took part in this weekend’s Breaking for Gold regional finals in Mitchell’s Plain.

The dancers known as BBoys and BGirls faced off in one-on-one dance battles for a spot at the national finals in April.

The competition is part of Dancesport SA’s campaign to put together a team to represent South Africa at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris.

Breakdancing is among the more recent codes included in the Olympic roster.
