More than 35 000 cyclists will take part in the 42nd edition of the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday March 10.
The event organisers have already started setting up on the Grand Parade.
The City of Cape Town will deploy 450 enforcement and rescue service staff including Metro police, traffic services and the fire and rescue service.Â
Mayoral committee member for safety and security, JP Smith, said: “It is often asked what makes the Cape Town Cycle Tour so popular – one of the reasons is most definitely the beautiful scenic route winding its way around the Cape Peninsula. The Cycle Tour also accommodates all categories of cyclists, from professional and elite riders to social riders who are just out to have fun with other cyclists and friends.”
Motorists are advised to take note of the temporary road closures that will be in place over the weekend. Â
