Hout Bay Yacht Club’s opening cruise on Sunday October 4 is a fun day on the water for family and friends.
The goal is to get everything that floats to parade in the bay near Mariners Wharf.
The opening cruise will start at 2pm with a “salute” to the commodore who will be on a yacht moored at the buoy near Mariners Wharf.
Everyone is invited to join the festivities either on the water or from the shore and watch the sail past of the yachts together with the newly created Hunter 19 fleet.
If swell height permits, the aim is to go as close to the beach as is safe, to give the public a view of the fleet. The best place to view from is on the pier near Mariners Wharf.
The theme for the opening cruise is Mask-A-Rade. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed floating vessel.
The festivities will then continue at the newly revamped yacht club. Limited tickets to a spit braai are available by pre-booking at the HBYC bar or via Quicket.
