Whale of a job

A humpback whale carcass found offshore of Kommetjie was towed into the Hout Bay Harbour slipway by the National Sea Rescue Institute on Saturday. On Sunday, a flatbed truck hauled the carcass to the Vissershok landfill. According to the City, the 14-metre long carcass was too big for the landfill weighbridge but is estimated to have weighed about 35 tons.
The humpback whale carcass was removed from the Hout Bay Harbour slipway and taken to the to the Vissershok landfill.
