When the Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch (HBNW) made a public appeal in July for funds to buy equipment for their dedicated Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg patrollers, the community responded generously and more than R12 000 was raised.
This enabled them to buy heavy duty rain jackets which they hand-
ed over to representatives of IY and Hangberg at Hout Bay SAPS
on Friday August 16. They also
purchased a number of torches that will be handed over to these patrollers.
The neighbourhood watch also received further donations from the Penzance CID (City Improvement District) and the Hout Bay CPF (Community Policing Forum) which they used to purchase additional equipment
such as more torches, tactical lights and headgear, based on the additional requirements of the patroller. Heather Saunders from HBNW said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed, referencing their donations and so enabling us to very easily allocate them directly to this campaign.
“A big thank you to all who supported this project.”
