Two men have been killed in Imizamo Yethu in the past week, say police.

At 10pm last Friday, police responding to a report of a murder, found the body of a 24-year-old man between the shacks in the township. He had been shot once in the face.

“At this stage, it is unknown who the shooter or shooters are. The case is currently under investigation,“ said Hout Bay police chief Captain Jerome Syster

On Tuesday, police responded to a tip-off about a body that had been found lying between rubbish bags in Pietersen Street.

“The man was struck over the head and killed with a sharp object. It is unknown who the suspects are and the case is under investigation,” said Captain Syster.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, officers responding to a tip-off about stolen cellphones seized R8000 worth of drugs in Imizamo Yethu.

“Our members arrived at the house where they recovered 50 mandrax tablets, 63 packets of tik, 28 packets of dagga and a five-litre bucket filled halfway with dagga. One man was arrested and appeared in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday January 8,” Captain Syster said.
