Children will have access to a range of puzzles, educational toys and games at Hangberg library’s new “toy library”, a resource centre for preschoolers, which was launched last week.
Groups of children will be able to use a variety of toys, musical instruments, flash cards and lacing shapes at the venue, says Tracy Muir-Rix, the City’s children’s services coordinator.
Librarian Desiree Reid said the facility could serve as a refuge for the youth in the community and it would help the library to work with preschools in the area.
“We can accommodate their lessons with our books and games,” she said.
“We always encourage parents to bring their children to the library so they can get that foundation and learn about the importance of reading to them as not all parents are doing so.“
