SONA road closures

South Africa - Cape Town - 7 February 2019 - A handful of onlookers lined the streets to watch the military parade as well as the presidential motorcade arriving at Parliament. The State of the Nation Address (SONA) is one of the most important annual events in the calendar of Parliament. It happens every year in February and it is commonly known as “the opening of Parliament”. President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Thursday June 20.

The National Government and the South African Police Service have requested that extended road closures be effected in the city, to accommodate the event.

Temporary road closures in the Central Business District will take effect on Thursday from 06am until midnight.

There will be limited road closures in effect for rehearsals today, Tuesday June 18 and tomorrow, Wednesday June 19 from 5pm.
