Hout Bay resident Andre Machado’s dramatic photographs of a group of birds attacking a boomslang will feature on SABC 2’s popular 50/50 this Sunday December 17, at 7pm. They have been selected for the Veld Focus segment. Mr Machado captured the astonishing images in October. “There are youngsters who often shoot guinea fowl with catties in our area. After I chased them away, I came across this boomslang in a tree on the other side of the fire-break behind Dolphin Street,” he said. “I then went down to get my camera. The birds were attacking it from all sides. One of my neighbours tried to catch the snake in a bucket, but this thing was quick. It eventually went into the fire-break and disappeared.”
