Hout Bay International School’s DP1 class hosted the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Shavathon event at Hout Bay International School on Friday March 2. Some 150 people sprayed their hair, including many primary school pupils. Four pupils and three teachers shaved their heads, and five girls cut their hair -which will be donated to make wigs for those with cancer. The afternoon was filled with the smell of hair sprays, errant hairs in the wind, and the sound of clippers and scissors. The school will be donating R8 000 to Cansa to assist them in providing care and support to those affected by cancer. “We are thankful to everyone who contributed, big or small, as you really have made a big difference,” said the school’s Daisy Blijdorp.
