Protest action in Hangberg, Hout Bay, has resulted in the closure of Atlantic Skipper this morning.
Ward 74 Councillor Roberto Quintas says the protest is led by a smaller group who are unhappy with police presence in the area.
He says the majority of residents have been calling on the police to undertake various crime prevention activities in the area.
Earlier this morning, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) arrived in the area possibly following up on intelligence they’ve received.
Mr Quintas says the smaller group started protesting to voice their opposition to the police presence.
“The area is tense but under control. The SAPS is going about their duties. I’d advise residents to remain indoors until the operation is finished.”
