Kronendal Primary School has its sights set on churning out champion swimmers after striking a deal with the AquAzzurra Foundation, a non-profit company, that will see if offering free swimming training.
Kronendal is the only school in the valley to have a pool, and swimming has always been at the heart of its summer sports programme.
“Our dream is not only to talent scout future champions but to nurture the dream of every child despite race, religion and economic conditions,” said Mina Manoussakis, AquAzzurra’s founder.
The partnership will see Aquazzurra taking over the entire swim programme at Kronendal at no cost, starting with water safety lessons.
Through the foundation, pupils will be supported by a team of coaches, biokineticists and physiotherapists.
Principal Nathan Levendal said he hoped swimming would become a leading sport at Kronendal with AquAzzurra’s help.
“We are very excited about this development and look forward to seeing the benefits that this partnership will bring,” he said.
AquAzzurra also plans to run a swimming club from the school in future, with details still under discussion. There are also talks
to enclose and heat the pool
so pupils can use it all year
round.
