Members of the SAPS visible policing and stabilisation units conducted a number of operations in Hout Bay over the past week. On Wednesday July 26, a vehicle checkpoint was established and a 9mm pistol and ammunition were found inside a vehicle. Three arrests were made for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. During the same operation, a 28-year-old man was arrested for illegal possession of crayfish, and 34 undersized crayfish were confiscated. In total, 23 arrests were made for assault, possession of dagga, housebreaking and illegally residing in South Africa. Nine arrests were executed for warrants of arrests and other crimes. On Sunday July 31, there were joint operations between the SAPS conducting random stops for licences, roadworthiness, fines and outstanding warrants of arrest.
