The Cape Orchid Society’s spring show, Or-chids of Discovery, will take visitors back in time on Saturday and Sunday September 17 and 18 at the Sanlam Hall in Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
People searched far and wide for rare and unusual orchids, often risking life and limb by braving treacherous terrain, vicious animals, tropical diseases and angry indigenous populations – all in the name of orchid fever.
Join the Cape Or-chid Society and follow in the footsteps of orchid hunters, bota-nists and collectors and discover the wonder, desire and magic that orchids inspire.
The show will in-clude a curated display of flowering orchids, offer daily orchid-care demonstrations, as well as the opportunity to take part in your own orchid mania with many interesting and exotic plants for sale.
On Saturday the show is on from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday from 9am to 4pm.
Entry is R15 for adults and R10 for pensioners and children.
