The Hout Bay police station temporarily closed this morning after a police sergeant shot and killed his wife and then himself during an argument at the station.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel André Traut, said the circumstances surrounding the death of the 41-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife was under investigation.
However, it is believed that the sergeant’s wife visited him at the Hout Bay police station around 10.25am and an argument ensued.
The sergeant was on duty at the time of the shooting.
A murder case and a death inquest has been opened.
The Hout Bay Community Policing Forum (CPF) has advised residents to use Camps Bay police station instead, unless in case of an emergency.
