Hout Bay author Penny Haw was in conversation with radio talk show host Pippa Hudson for the launch of The Woman at the Wheel, at Exclusive Books Constantia, on Thursday October 18. Haw’s latest book, a work of historical fiction, is based on the life of Bertha Benz who was the wife of “father of the car” Carl Benz. It tells the story of the key role Bertha played in the development of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, built in 1885 and widely regarded as the first practical modern automobile.
