Luxury Llandudno break for R95k a day

While most of us will be pinching the pennies ahead of the big Christmas spend, a select few might think nothing of paying a cool R95 000 a day for a “top-end boutique hotel-styled home” in Llandudno.

For that price, you would imagine that every conceivable bell and whistle comes with the package – and you wouldn’t be far off. The listing by Seeff Shortstay, says a “hand-picked team of expert staff”, including a personal butler and chef, will be on hand to cater to residents’ every whim at the 26 Sunset Avenue address.

“The villa’s six expansive suites are spread over two levels to maximise the magnificent ocean and mountain views. They boast a range of delightful touches designed to relax and refresh you. Each one opens on to private decks overlooking the spectacular coastline.

“King-sized beds provide extra comfort while air conditioning moderates the daytime heat and evening chill. Rain-effect showers and spacious tubs are highlights of the en-suite bathrooms stocked with a host of fragrant, revitalising toiletries,” the listing notes.

According to Seeff Shortstay’s, Steven Holvec, Hout Bay and Llandudno now rank with the Atlantic Seaboard as some of the most sought-after short-term rental areas with holidaymakers and visitors prepared to pay between
R2 000 and R95 000 a day.

Mr Holvec said the areas offered opportunities for property owners and landlords to capitalise and earn excellent returns with stays ranging from a day to three months and more.

“The seaside location and close proximity to the Atlantic Seaboard and winelands make Hout Bay and Llandudno prime hot spots. Llandudno is ideal for upper income visitors who want exclusivity. It has a top ranked Blue Flag beach and with no commercial properties offers privacy and security,” said Mr Holvec

“Properties on offer are mostly houses ranging from around R6 000 to R95 000 a day over the high season for a top-end boutique-hotel-styled home with six magnificent bedroom suites, luxurious living areas, top-class facilities, a stunning pool deck and views as far as the eye can see. For the discerning visitor, there is an added menu of additional services to choose from, such as a concierge and cleaning service and more.

That makes this type of rental as attractive as a boutique hotel, hence the rise in this sector of the market.”

He said on the Hout Bay side, visitors could rent a four-bedroom home from
R2 500 a day ranging up to about R20 000 at the top end.

“At R8 000 a day over the high season, you get a luxury house with stunning views, designer interiors, a pool, jacuzzi and outdoor entertainment terrace with a fridge and braai facilities.”
