A member of the Imizamo Yethu Neighbourhood Watch escaped serious injury after being shot on Monday October 29.
At about 3pm, watch patrollers approached a 30-year-old man while doing their rounds. The man immediately drew a gun and fired, with a bullet grazing one patroller’s leg.
“The patrollers reported
the incident to Hout Bay police,” said police spokeswoman, Warrant Officer Tanya Lesch.
The man was later
arrested and charged with attempted murder.
He is also facing a charge for
the illegal possession of a firearm.
“A 9mm short pistol, six rounds of ammunition and a magazine were handed in as evidence,” Warrant Officer Lesch said.
The man appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
