Ire over parking

Colin Sutherland, Hout Bay

The renovation of the parking – what is complete – looks much the same as before, seems to have no end in sight.

Notices spring up telling us that they are “sorry for the inconvenience” – a green light to close off highways, isolate stores and generally make lots of noise and dust.

Might I use your letters page to enquire from those in charge when it will all end, and how much better it will be. Someone must know or is that a delicate question.

Denise Muller, property manager at Mainstream Mall, responds:

We have heard the concerns regarding the lack of parking. Maintenance is under way and will hopefully be completed by the end of the week.

It has taken some time, but, at the end of the day, it will benefit customers in the future.

Although we understand the grievances, we have to give mention to the fact that the underground parking below the mall is available.

There is also parking available at the Melkhout Centre, which is next to Mainstream. We are trying our best to accommodate everyone’s needs.
