Hout Bay nippers a huge success

Hout Bay’s hosting of a nippers lifesaving competition for the first time in a quarter of a century produced great results for both the hosting team and venue – with Llandudno Surf Lifesaving Club coming in first and the beautiful Hout Bay providing the perfect backdrop.

Dolphins frolicked in the waves and the conditions were perfect for last Sunday’s event as a record number of nippers from nine Western Province clubs competed in five exciting land and water events.

Cape Town District Surf Competition officer, Tommy Veldhuis, said: “It was really nice to have a competition in Hout Bay, and it worked really well as a venue. This was the biggest nipper competition I can recall for the Western Province. We look forward to coming back next season.”

Paul Broxis, nippers officer for LSLC, said: “Hout Bay put on an incredible show for our visitors and everyone had a great day. The weather was kind to us and we are grateful for all the amazing support we received from local businesses. The fact that our nippers finished top for their first outing in front of a home crowd was just the icing on the cake.”
