Fund-raiser for ABC to help kids with literacy and numeracy

ABC for Life provides young adults and children access to school-based support in literacy and numeracy.

Hout Bay NPO ABC for Life will be hosting a fund-raiser at the Bay Harbour Market, from 6pm, on Tuesday April 17.

Nik Rabinowitz headlines an evening of entertainment that includes a charity auction by well-known auctioneer Joey Burke.

The ABC for Life initiative provides children and young adults living in Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu with access to school-based support in literacy and numeracy.

Since its inception in 2007, five support programmes have been developed and are providing support and guidance to an average of 350 primary school pupils.

With the involvement of four teachers, a teacher co-ordinator, a full-time project co-ordinator and an average of 20 volunteers, ABC for Life’s five programmes are providing an extra education source and assistance for the pupils at Sentinel school.

The fund-raiser will have a number of items for auction, including weekends away, golf experiences and artworks.

Tickets are available on Quicket at R150 a person. If anyone would like to donate or contribute towards the event, contact Joey Burke on 082 998 1133.
