Following an article published in the Sentinel last week about the Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG) water cut (“DARG’s dry spell”, Sentinel, July 29), Darg’s lawyer, Craig Assheton-Smith contacted the Sentinel disputing the information given to us by the City of Cape Town.
In an email, Mr Assheton-Smith said the statement made by deputy mayor, Ian Neilson, was inaccurate as all outstanding accounts had been paid to the City following the appointment of Darg facilitator, Ryno Engelbrecht.
He further expressed his disappointment with the Sentinel for not having put the City’s comments to him or Mr Engelbrecht to ascertain the facts before going to print.
When the Sentinel News contacted the City about the dispute, spokeswoman for the City, Priya Reddy, said the City would like to meet with DARG’s legal representatives to discuss the details of the account and to provide them with an opportunity to raise any concerns about the matter.
“We therefore urge Darg’s representatives or their legal representatives to set up an appointment with the City’s revenue department so that this matter can be discussed as soon as possible,” she said.
