A team of Cape Town firefighters came 18th in the five-day 2016 World Rescue Challenge, in Brazil. Competitors raced the clock in car-crash simulations to rescue a patient without causing further harm. The seven team members work at Hout Bay, Goodwood, Roeland Street, Strand and Milnerton fire stations. South Africa will host the competition in 2018.
