DSD temporarily closed

The Department of Social Development’s satellite office in Hout Bay is expected to reopen at the beginning of November.
The office, which is used to provide child-protection services, was closed following rioting in the harbour that saw some of the office’s windows broken.

“We are currently in the process of repairing the windows and we are just waiting on service providers to be approved,” said department spokesperson Cayla Murray.

“It is essential to note that services in the area have not been suspended. Social workers are continuing to provide services as usual. The safety of our staff and clients is paramount which is why they will not use this office until the repairs are finished. The repairs are expected to be completed by the beginning of November.”
