Distinction

Despite enduring a hijacking, earlier this year, Kronendal Music Academy (KMA) student Aviwe Mkhaphuza, 26, earned a distinction for his Trinity College of London Grade 6 jazz saxophone exam on Thursday May 23. Aviwe first started his musical training in 2011, when KMA offered music classes to James House where Aviwe was part of the Sibanye Youth Group. Aviwe continued his musical training and performed with KMA’s Jazz Band in Germing and Edinburgh. While he is currently working a full-time job, he hopes to study music at UCT in 2021.
