On Saturday July 14, Cape Town’s Executive Mayor Patricia de Lille joined the Bikers for Mandela Rally in partnership with Zelda le Grange, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, to raise awareness and funds to keep girls in school. The aim of the rally was to collect sanitary towels for the many girls who stay out of school when they are menstruating because they cannot afford sanitary products. Explaining how people could make a difference, she said R180 could provide enough sanitary pads to keep one young girl in school for an entire year.
