Fairhaven Faith Mission Church is celebrating its 20th anniversary year.
Established in 1997, the church has branches in Hout Bay, Delft, Belhar Mitchell’s Plain and Lavender Hill, and through its Hangberg Education Development Movement wing has been engaged in a number of outreach projects in these areas.
The church was founded by Hout Bay’s Pastor Philip Frans.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, the church is holding two events to raise funds to feed the homeless and underprivileged.
“On Saturday September 2 we will be hosting a fund-raiser at the Hangberg multi-purpose sports centre from 3pm to 5pm. Safety and Security MEC Dan Plato has confirmed his attendance, while we have also invited Mayoral committee member for area north, Suzette Little to be guest speaker,” Pastor Frans said.
A thanksgiving service will then be held at the Hangberg civic centre on Sunday October 8. “The funds raised from the events will be used to feed 20 homeless and underprivileged people in our areas. We are hoping to make these feeding events a regular part of our calendar, which already includes our popular children’s Christmas party and Youth Day celebrations.”
Tickets for the fund-raiser, which include a three-course meal, are R200 each.
They can be purchased through Pastor Frans on 079 067 1345.
