CCP to co-ordinate all security responses in Hout Bay

Community Crime Prevention (CCP) will be taking over the operations of the Watchcon Control Centre from Sunday April 1.

With the full backing of SAPS and all the local private security companies, CCP will now be co-ordinating all security responses in the Hout Bay Valley through the Watchcon Control Centre.

Keri Cross, CCP founder and director, said ADT, which paid for the three full-time controllers who run the control room, would “remain a key Watchcon sponsor”.

CCP operations director JJ de Villiers said the control room, which operated 24/7, 365 days a year, played a key role in supporting first responders.

“CCP will be introducing new technology, procedures and staff to make our real-time response and crime fighting measures even more effective”.

Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Andrew Martin, was also excited about the move.

“This comes at a critical time when we are upgrading all major infrastructure. “

Watchcon will continue to be funded entirely from donations and sponsorship by the local community and other stakeholders.

Ms Cross thanked those who had already donated directly to Watchcon.

“Please continue to do so. A portion of donations to CCP will now go towards Watchcon. CCP is keen to secure
additional donations and sponsorship to meet the increased costs associated with operating Watchcon.”
