The cause of a fire that burnt three hectares of veld along Chapman’s Peak Drive mountainside last Saturday is still under investigation, says South African National Parks (SANParks).
Firefighters were dispatched at 11am to fight the fire just before the lookout point near the toll gate, and Chapmans Peak Drive was closed, said SANParks spokesperson Lauren Clayton.
The fire was contained by 1pm, and the road was subsequently reopened.
“South African National Parks extends its gratitude to the public for cooperation which enabled containment of the fire without any incidents,“ Ms Clayton said.
The City referred Sentinel’s queries to SANParks.
