Body of missing diver recovered

A five-day search for missing diver, Raymind Samuels, 23, ended in tragedy when his body was discovered close to the place he went missing.

The Hangberg community stood in shock as Raymind’s body arrived at the Hout Bay Harbour after being discovered at Duiker Island around midday.

Raymind was reported missing by his family on Sunday, after he failed to return from scuba diving at Duiker Island.

The National Sea Rescue Institute spokesperson, Craig Lambinon, confirmed that the body was taken into the care of police and pathology services.  

“Police have opened an inquest docket. On behalf of all emergency services involved, the NSRI has conveyed condolences to the family,” Mr Lambinon said.
