■ It was the first day of “big” the school for thousands of Grade 1 pupils in the Western Cape on Wednesday January 11. At Hout Bay’s Kronendal Primary School, however, most of the Grade 1s were raring to go, ready to take on the challenges of the next 12 years.
The first day of school can be a traumatic time for many, but six-year-old Kronendal Primary Grade 1 pupil Onako Ngono showed no signs of fear ahead of his school career. He was accompanied to school by mom Sylvia.
Proud parents Petrus and Joanie Jonker with their son Clark, 6, are pictured before meeting teachers at Kronendal Primary.
Little Bukho Gadini, 7, proved he was already ahead of the game by requesting to write his own name in the Sentinel reporters notebook.
