This year’s Hout Bay Neighbourhood Watch Beach Safety Project will run from Friday December 14 to Sunday January 13 2019.
The project, which ensures safety on the beach and helps with any medical emergencies, has been running since 2011, and once again will be managed by Tammy Matthysen.
A City law enforcement satellite office will be stationed on the Mariner’s Wharf side of the beach and there will be a Fidelity ADT trailer on
the Chapman’s Peak side. A Fidelity ADT guard will also be stationed there for the season.
WardcouncillorRoberto Quintas has offered to provide
quad bikes to patrol the beach during the season, while Deep Blue Security has once again agreed to serve as the project headquarter for beach patrollers.
Mike Rigg, of K9ine Solutions, will offer dog patrols, and this year, there will be an official stand where children can be tagged.
Ms Matthysen is appealing for volunteers to patrol the beach.
“Your eyes and ears on our beach are a critical and essential part of our overall safety and security activities in Hout Bay.
“We need members to commit to a patrol for one or two shifts on the beach.
hours and members can patrol with their husband/wife or a partner can be allocated to them,” she said. She can be contacted at email@example.com or 061 913 7151.
