Up to 200 households in Hangberg and Imizamo Yethu whose homes were battered by the heavy storms last month received food parcels, sail sheets, and blankets recently.
The handover took place at the Hangberg Sports Centre and was sponsored by the Paul and Humile Mashatile Foundation and Gift of the Givers, said Hangberg community activist and Hout Bay Community Police Forum vice-chairperson, Roscoe Jacobs.
“The Paul and Humile Mashatile Foundation contacted me to assist them with an assessment of the houses that were severely impacted by the heavy storms in Hangberg,” said Mr Jacobs. “During their visit earlier we had a tour and earmarked the households which suffered damages and needed assistance with donations.”
“Our visit to Hangberg was a call to action. By supporting Hangberg, we aim to highlight the importance of investing in local communities to boost living conditions, promote economic development, and support sustainable growth, ”said foundation spokesperson, Refilwe Letswalo.
