Art in a glass

Seen at the launch of Duvel beer company’s first Art of Glass collaboration at Worldart Gallery in Cape Town, from left, are Lena Dewaegenare, of UCT Cape Town; Marcelle Sprong, of Hout Bay; and Karin Greenberg, of Lakeside. Selected international artists are chosen each year to contribute an artwork to grace limited editions of the signature Duvel glass. Africa’s first glass, dubbed “Madonna”, was created by Lizette Chirrime, and now finds new life on Duvel’s tulip-shaped glass. The launch also coincided with Chirrime’s solo exhibition, The Forms of the Invisible Demand, which runs till the end of September at Worldart Gallery, Cape Town.
