Hout Bay Hurricanes Basketball Club is appealing to Cape Town residents for assistance.
In a City in which gangsterism and drug abuse are rife, the youth of Hout Bay Hurricanes Basketball Club are calling on Cape Town residents to support their ambitions of participating in the St John’s College Under-13 Basketball Tournament in Johannesburg from February 21.
The club has raised R10 000 so far and needs to raise another R30 000 to make the trip. The club has a donation drive in which its appealing to residents to make a donation from R100 onward. Under-13 team captain Alonzo October says: “By making this donation means we are able to partake in this tournament and become role models for other youth as many including myself haven’t been outside of the Western Cape.”
The Club’s ethos is “Basketball is a way of life.” The tournament sees various private schools participating and could possibly afford Hout Bay Hurricanes players scholarship opportunities at one of these schools.
The club will be hosting a fund-raiser on Saturday February 16. It is a Sundowner Boat Cruise on Circe Launches on Hout Bay Harbour, a great way to spend time with the special person in your life during the month of love but also extending that love and giving back to a good cause. Tickets cost R150 a person. To get your ticket, WhatsApp me on 082 261 1174.
