Girls from the Amoyo Performing Arts Foundation delighted visitors from the Netherlands with an outstanding impromptu performance at the Silikamva High School hall on Friday, February 12.
The visitors were family and friends of Amoyo founder Kim Worrall. They had attended the memorial service for her father and well-known Hout Bay resident, Mike Kokhuis, earlier in the day. Mr Kokhuis’s wife, Lindy, was also present.
Moving effortlessly to the beat of drums, the girls showed the visitors what the foundation is all about. Two students also performed a duet in memory of Mr Kokhuis.
Amoyo, an NPO, was established in March last year for children between the ages of five to 18, offering dance classes, such as ballet, African dance, contemporary, Spanish and music and rhythm, as well as speech and drama. The foundation has four groups catering to children of different ages and offers 28 classes a week from Monday to Friday.
