Jazzart Dance Theatre will commemorate South Africa’s 30 years of democracy with a stirring, emotive and compelling mixed bill – Four Frames of Freedom. The performances will take place at Artscape on Friday and Saturday November 15 and 16.
The line-up includes works which have toured Durban, Johannesburg, Rwanda and Pakistan and an additional new piece performed by the Jazzart and Baba Yaya trainees, which pays homage to the resilience of youth born since 1994.
I Am African and Ziyawa are choreographed by Sifiso Kweyama (Jazzart’s head of training); Dark Flock by the London-based MANACAN (Ciara Baldwin and Nathan Bartman); and Battlefield by Lihle Mfene, a former Jazzart Company dancer.
Tickets are available through Webtickets or Artscape Dial-A-Seat. Friday’s performance starts at 7pm and on Saturday there are shows at 2pm and 7pm. Ticket prices range from R100 to R150.
