For the second year, the Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge in Hout Bay is hosting a special “Phoenix Charity Dinner”, in commemoration of the devastating Western Cape fires of 2015, which also claimed the original lodge.
The event, on Wednesday May 3, at 6pm, will start with drinks and a dinner with live musical entertainment, followed by a fund-raising auction in aid of Thula Thula Hout Bay, which is co-ordinating relief efforts for the victims of the Imizamo Yethu fire.
This local disaster relief organisation was founded in 2015 to address a need for centralised, community-oriented collections and distributions. Thula Thula also educates the public about preventing fires and money raised at the dinner will be used to hire trainers to educate young people about how to handle fire threats.
