Cape Town Opera premières the French version of Christoph Gluck’s opera Orphée et Eurydice at the Baxter on Tuesday September 3, Thursday September 5 and Saturday September 7.
The ancient myth of lovers Orpheus and Eurydice is brought to life in this opera, which is sung in French with English and Xhosa translations projected above the stage. Singers Fleur Barron (Orphée), Brittany Smith (Amour) and Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi (Eurydice) are joined by the Cape Town Opera chorus. Tickets cost from R180 to R280. Book through Webtickets.
