Maskandi folk fusion tour

Qadasi and Maqhinga Maskandi will tour Cape Town in May.

The group is composed of David “Qadasi” Jenkins and Maqhinga Radebe who are known for their fresh approach to traditional Maskandi music and have toured the UK, Europe and Asia with their “fusion of traditional Zulu and western folk music”.

Their first album Lashis’ Ilanga was released in 2016. Their second album Ungabanaki won Best Traditional Music Album at the 2020 South African Music Awards (SAMAs).

They will perform at Athletic Club and Social, 35 Buitengracht Street, on Thursday May 12, at 8pm. Tickets cost R100 through Quicket.co.za or R120 at the door; at Alliance Française du Cap, 155 Loop Street, on Friday May 13, at 7.30pm.
