Performer Nurit Graff hails from Hout Bay and is part of The Fugard Theatre’s epic West Side Story production that opens at Artscape Opera house on Wednesday March 7. Ms Graff studied musical theatre at the Pretoria Technikon and has gone on to perform in South Africa and around the world in several well-known musicals such as Saturday Night Fever, Mamma Mia, Dirty Dancing and The Sound of Music. She has also appeared in TV shows such as Tutankamen as a dancer and as a stunt woman in Dominion Season 2.
West Side Story, known for the score that marries music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, retells
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and is set in New York City’s Upper West Side in the late 1950s. It follows the story of
two young and idealistic lovers, Tony and Maria, who are caught between two warring street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks.
